Prevention and Control Infectious Disease Approach of Flood Disaster Zone
Chlorine Dioxide Disinfectant Usage
Recently, there are many severe floods disasters all over the world. In hot season, various diseases and infectious disease outbreak in flood disaster areas. The diseases strictly endanger refugee life.In order to effectively prevent and control infectious diseases, we have to disinfect resident's life environment, drinking water, food, utensil, victims settlements and so on.
1. Food safety and tableware disinfection:
To strengthen canteen food hygiene, utensil and employees supervision in schools, factories, victims settlements, shelter, or other collective camp.
Utensils must be washed and boiled for 10 minutes or disinfected with chlorine dioxide after the disaster.
2. Drinking water disinfection:
(1) After heavy rain:
The water sources may be contaminated, so people must improve the situation, making sure the safety of drinking water.
Fully review from the water distribution network to water source, whether damage of physical structure and/or bacterial and chemical pollution.
(2) Centralized water supply:
Should be strictly conduct accordance with water purification, disinfection, monitoring procedures. After heavy rainfall, the max amount of disinfectant dosing may be adjusted according to national drinking water standards.
(3) Distributed drinking water:
Well water, river water and other tanks or barrels water can be disinfected with chlorine dioxide.
When water turbidity, should be clarified or after pretreatment with coagulants such as alum, and then disinfect the water with chlorine dioxide, common usage and dosage:
Chlorine dioxide powder: once treatment for hundreds of liters water.
Effervescent disinfectant tablets of chlorine dioxide: one treatment for no more than one hundred of liters water.
Wild drinking water disinfectants: fit for a few liters of water treatment of troops or victims.
3. Animal carcasses, garbage disinfection treatment:
(1) Livestock, poultry and other animals` carcasses should be buried deeply after disinfetion.
(2) Garbage should be disinfected before treatment.
4. Environmental disinfection and insecticide treated:
(1) Indoor and outdoor environmental: making chlorine dioxide disinfectant, concentration 100-200mg/l for spraying, dosage: 50-100ml per square meter.
(2) Family environment mosquitocide: put 50g Fendona into 5 kg in water, spraying to over the wall, the door or furniture, spray to wet of the surface.
(3) Outdoor environment mosquitocide: put 50g dichlorvos with 80% into 5 kg water, using aerosol to spray mosquito breeding environment.
5.Recommended disinfectant:
1).Chlorine dioxide tablets;
2).Chlorine dioxide powder;
3).Chlorine dioxide liquid;
4).Water purification tablets;
